Introduction and Welcome to the Code of Practice

The Swansea University Codes of Practice are designed to provide a framework for the effective delivery of Quality Assurance and Enhancement, supporting and enabling staff and students to fully engage in delivering a high-quality student experience across all programmes and at all levels of study.  The Code of Practice are designed to provide a summary overview of key processes, along with more detailed frequently asked questions, providing a step by step approach to effective quality assurance.

The Code of Practice for Programme Development, Approval and Management provides the framework, principles and processes for the effective design, development, approval, management and review of all programmes of study (including undergraduate, postgraduate taught, postgraduate research and collaborative developments), including constituent modules.  The University seeks to put students firmly at the heart of their learning, and this starts with positive and active engagement with students throughout all stages of programme development, approval and review.

This Code of Practice strives to be evidence based, and is based upon the expectations and indicators of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education (Chapters B1 and B8) (QAA) and the i-Map Report Innovation in the Market Assurance of New Programmes (HEFCE 2012, 2015).

Academic Quality Services welcomes feedback on the effectiveness of this Code of Practice and will seek to implement improvements throughout the year to improve the user experience.  Please send any feedback to Quality@Swansea.ac.uk with the Subject Header ‘COP Feedback’.

We hope this Code of Practice proves useful and easy to use.
