The Postgraduate Research (PGR) Committee is a University-level Committee which has a dual reporting line to the Committee for Research and Innovation Strategy (CRIS) and the Learning, Teaching & Quality Committee (LTQ). The PGR Committee is responsible for the strategic oversight and leadership of postgraduate research across the University and formulates policy, strategy and communications to strengthen and enhance postgraduate research provision in areas including recruitment and admissions, training and skills development, supervision, academic progression and assessment, research support, environment and impact. The Postgraduate Research Committee regularly reviews and evaluates PGR regulations and guidance, considering areas of best practice across the sector in order to make recommendations for change. The Postgraduate Research Committee meets four times a year.
The Postgraduate Research Committee is the parent-Committee to the Postgraduate Research (PGR) Scholarships Sub-Committee whose remit is to govern, manage and coordinate all aspects of the Swansea University Research Excellence Scholarships (SURES), Swansea University Strategic Partner Research Scholarships (SUSPRS), James Callaghan Scholarships and the James Callaghan Thesis Prize. The PGR Scholarships Sub-Committee meets two times a year.
