Managing and Enhancing the Portfolio and Programmes of Study

All programmes should change over time to keep abreast of current research, topics, trends, external changes (such as Professional Body requirements) and, perhaps most importantly, changes to the market demand by students and employers, to ensure programmes continue to recruit. If programmes are not recruiting effectively, they may need to be suspended or withdrawn, but ensuring that your programme as as good as possible at all times may ensure its continued success.

To enable changes to programmes without undertaking a full re-approval process, the University permits certain aspects to be changed – this is the ‘Amending an Existing Programme’ process. This process is overseen by the Learning, Teaching and Quality Committee, but managed by the Programme Approval Committee and College/School Learning and Teaching Committee/Research Committee. As with all aspects of programme design and review, students and employers should be part of the process throughout.
